yh but those arent his nails. biology major here. similar to bats, dragon wings wont have nails. bats have similar wing structures as dragons and wild bats dont experience this issue. RATHER it would appear that due to being wild sheepstealer has got a bone disease or damage in the egg before he hatched ( via the egg being dropped or left in the cold before he hatched which shrinks and shrivels cells) bone diseas is actually common in wild reptiles and sheepstealer has all the symptoms, stubby walk, scrawny legs , deformed finger bones in the wings that protrude and curve , malfromed spikes and the most notible sign is his underbite as unlike humans animals arent as susceptible to under/overbites unless there is another undelrying issue ( MOST OF THE TIME)

It’s due to neglect. Dragons aren’t reallyyyy supposed to be wild. They are overgrown nails that would need clipping 😂

I like to think that sheepstealer, Meleys and Caraxes are from the same clutch of eggs from Dreamfyre that all were a bit.. wrong, during the Maegor years or born from Harrenhal clutches

They don’t often show closeups of him, but he’s very deformed. He’s definitely got either some kind of disease, disability, or something happened to him in the egg. Either way we love him 🥰

Silverwing's are also a bit longer than the others, maybe bc she didn't had a rider for a while so the dragon keepers didn't trimed it that offten ?

Think of it like a pet dog and a wild/stray dog, the pet dog looks better, cleaner and its nails are trimmed/Kept short enough as for wild/stray dogs are dirty, the fur isn’t maintained and matted and its nails are long and curly since it isn’t trimmed and maintained

So there's a theory that there was 5 or more different breeds of dragon. War dragons they usually have spikes around the neck Meleys. Egg producers like Syrax. I think dragons better suited for naval warfare like they blend in better. 2 more I cant remember. I think 1 to be a show dragon so they grow massive and 1 other

Its more like a sign. Dragons that going in the Dragonpit, have not so much space, like wild dragons. The dragonpit dragons mostly are trimmed or a brocken by the space loss.
