@thesunnahguy: The older I get, the more I realise that happiness has become a moving target. Every year the standard changes. You need more money. A bigger house. A nicer holiday. A better body. A more exciting relationship. The finish line never stays where it is. And that's why so many people spend their lives chasing happiness but never actually experiencing it. One of the most beautiful things Islam gave us was a reference point. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever among you wakes up secure in his home, healthy in his body, and has enough provision for his day, it is as though he has been given the whole world." (Jami' al-Tirmidhi 2346 - Hasan) Read that again. No mention of luxury. No mention of status. No mention of followers. No mention of driving your dream car or living in your dream house. Just safety. Health. And enough for today. Imagine measuring your life by that standard instead of the one social media hands you every morning. I genuinely believe that's why our grandparents were so much more content than we are. They weren't constantly being reminded of everything they didn't have. They simply thanked Allah for what they did. Maybe happiness hasn't become harder to find. Maybe we've just been looking in the wrong direction all along.
