@dailymail: A piece of a SpaceX rocket that had been drifting through space since last year was expected to crash into the Moon at high speed on August 5, though the impact was unlikely to be confirmed for several hours. The rocket body, weighing more than 8,818 pounds (4,000 kg), was expected to strike the lunar surface at around 2:35 a.m. ET (0635 GMT), traveling at approximately 5,400 miles per hour (8,690 kph). However, none of the spacecraft currently orbiting the Moon were expected to be positioned to capture live images of the impact. The collision would likely have sent a plume of lunar dust into space.
