The confusion comes from one of the writers coming out and saying something different but than Condal walked back on it. After Season 2, Episode 3 ("The Burning Mill"), director Geeta Vasant Patel was interviewed about the scene where Rhaenyra gives Rhaena Targaryen four dragon eggs to take with the children across the Narrow Sea. She said, very plainly: "Those are Daenerys' eggs." She was saying the three famous eggs that hatch into Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion are the very same eggs Rhaena is carrying. A week later, showrunner Ryan Condal gave an interview and deliberately softened Patel's claim. Instead of confirming they were Daenerys' eggs, he said: "I like to think of it as one possible future."
