@tterraa_alt: Just because it may seem safer or easier on the outside doesn’t mean that it is. Bisexuals face a higher rate of DV,SV, and SA over any sexual minority. Bisexuals still face and can face as much discrimination as any heterosexual person. #bisexual #wlw #trans #saawareness #lgbtq
Doesn’t bi people being “straight passing” rely on them suppressing their bi identity by only dating hetero?

Ebony!!! 🍉 :
I empathise with tje issues regarding safety, but there are privelages with liking the opposite gender (in cis relationships) because if gay marriage is banned you can still get married to the person you love, you have the option to love someone freely, hold their hand and kiss in public. Being a bi person in a opposite sex relationship regardless isn’t safe but it’s safer than being in a relationship with the same gender. That doesn’t erase your identity ofc! No matter tje relationship you are queer and valid, but if you want to think through the lense of intersectionality you have privelages gay men and lesbian women do not have, and that’s completely fine, in fact it’s good to have those privelages! and it’s okay to acknowledge that you have them. Obviously abuse and SA is wrong and i think that is abhorrent, but i think it is safer (not safe) in a general sense, but there’s nuance and anyone can be unsafe in a relationship.

I get so fucking pissed at this. DV and SA rates are so fucking high for bi folks. 2/3 of us experience it. Yet it’s somehow “safe”

Every queer person can be "straight passing"- when they're single or even just leave the house alone. This argument about who has it easier or harder, when we're meant to be a collective, is so lame

lets say i have rabies, kay?
basicallly 100% chance im dead because we didnt catch it early.
BUT. theres a surgery that can heal me but has a 99% mortality rate.
that surgery is not remotely safe. but it is SAFER than letting rabies do its thing.

I understand some of what they mean, in theory. I could theoretically choose to hide my queerness and fall in love with a man and get married and never worry about my marriage being dissolved or us being denied for adoption because of homophobia. It seems like people don’t acknowledge that I could also fall in love with a woman and have none of said privilege. Also just because you’re dating another gender doesn’t mean your relationship is straight passing.
