When choosing a CCTV camera, you’ll often hear 2MP, 4MP, 5MP or 8MP (4K). But what does that really mean to someone who just wants reliable security? Think of it like taking a photo. The more pixels the camera captures, the more information is available in the image. This can make a difference when you need to zoom in and look at details such as a person, vehicle, clothing or an activity happening further away. 2MP (1080p) can be perfectly adequate for many basic surveillance areas. 4MP (2K) gives you more detail and can provide a useful balance between image quality, storage and cost. 8MP (4K) captures significantly more image information and can be useful where identifying finer details is important. But there’s an important point: more megapixels doesn't automatically mean better CCTV. Lens quality, lighting, camera placement, night performance, compression and the distance to the subject all matter. A well-positioned 4MP camera can sometimes give you more useful evidence than a poorly positioned 8MP camera. So when choosing CCTV, don't simply ask: “How many megapixels is the camera?” Ask: “What do I need to see, and from how far away?” That is where good CCTV design begins. #CCTV #CCTVInstallation #VideoSurveillance #SecuritySystems #SecurityTechnology
