1. When a child doesn’t receive consistent (and unconditional) emotional attunement/attention/acceptance, a kind of emotional starvation is created. They’re emotional NEEDS, after all. So when Lovebombing occurs, sadly it can feel less like a red flag & more like fulfilment of a lifelong emotional hunger. 2. Our formative relationships generally create the blueprint for how we learn to Love. What is modelled to us is what feels ‘normal’ & familiar. So if we spent a childhood hoping & waiting for a parent to finally become what we needed, often we internalise that as the way Love feels. And that framework can follow us into our dating life. Leaving dysfunctional relationships doesn’t feel like an option bc it never was. And they feel most familiar, anyway. 3. When a child grows up in an emotionally unpredictable environment, survival means constantly scanning for subtle shifts in other people’s moods, constantly monitoring. This survival tendency becomes so engrained & can follow into adulthood, making it difficult to separate one’s own emotional state from the emotional climate surrounding. Gentle reminder that human behaviour is complex. These are common patterns not universal truths. The same behaviour can have different roots & no single childhood guarantees one particular outcome.
