As I say late in the video, there are at least like 8 topics within all of this that we need to discuss: - The rampant cultural appropriation that was core tenant of so many of his designs (which is absolutely related to his hateful past) - The way that his addictions to dr*gs and alcohol and all the stress he was under in 2011 are repeatedly brought up as if that in any way has something to do with harboring deeply anti s3m!tic beliefs - The role that some rabbis and Jewish “leaders” play in deciding they get to speak for all of us – when it’s like a hallmark of Judaism that we disagree with each other – and what it means when the rest of the world conveniently agrees with them - The consistent pattern of excusing racism in design if your design is pretty enough that so many of y’all are actively indulging. - The actual roots of the specific hateful things that Galliano said that are a part of that wh*te s*premacy - the “Aryan ideal” that models are still held up to today that is specifically based on hating Black and Jewish bodies - The elephant in the room which is, i don’t know, the active g*nocide(s) going on - The real rise of ant*s*mitism in the US, not people with good hearts fighting that g*nicode, but actual antis*mites who hate Jews because we are Jewish - What “Teshuvah,” the act of repenting in Judaism actually means and what it actually looks like, especially as we get closer to the high holidays season when that’s like all we’ll be talking about – because it isn’t this!! #metgala #johngalliano #annawintour #metgala2027 #fashiontiktok
