DUE DATE VS STATEMENT DATE Your due date is the day you have to make a payment or else you're gonna get late payments and late fees. And your statement date is the day the creditor will take a snapshot of what your balance is and report it to the credit bureaus. 2 examples. Let's say you used up 70% of your credit card balance, and the first is your due date, which is when you have to make a payment to avoid late fees and late payments, right? And you went ahead and paid off your balance in full to 0% to avoid the late. And your statement date is typically 3-7 days after your due date, so we'll call it the 6th. Now what you do between your due date and your statement date is key. You have a 0% balance on your due date. The first, and let's say on the fourth, you max out your card to a 100%. And if you don't pay it off, on the sixth is when the creditor will take a snapshot of your balance and report it. Now it's reporting a 1005 utilization instead of a 0%. Example number two, you have a 70%. And on your due date, the first you paid it off in full to zero. Then on the fourth you went ahead and maxed out your card to a hundred percent. But this time you made a payment again on the fifth down to a 30% usage. So now on the sixth, when the creditor takes a snapshot of your balance, it's going to report as 30%!! #paymenthistory #latepayments #latefee #statementdate #duedate #creditscores #creditscoretips #credittips #credittok #creditcardtips #creditscoreincrease #buildcredit #creditprepair #creditrepairspecialist #creditallegiant #funnyleonidas
