@dilaudiddaddy: 15 mg IV ketorolac ≈ analgesia comparable to 10 mg morphine for moderate pain — minus the respiratory depression, pruritus, and PACU nausea. The catch: 🔴 COX inhibition = platelet dysfunction. Your surgeon will have opinions. 🔴 Renal perfusion depends on prostaglandins. Hypovolemic + elderly + Toradol = creatinine bump. 🔴 5-day max. This is a sprint drug, not a marathon drug. 🔴 15 mg works about as well as 30 mg. The dose-response curve flattens fast — analgesic ceiling is real. Multimodal analgesia isn’t a buzzword. It’s how patients go home comfortable without a PCA. #anesthesia #nurse #healthcare #medicine #surgery
They gave me Toradol for kidney stones and other issues. Does nothing at all for me. In my case, this is a waste of medication but ER docs don't care

I rarely give it anymore. Any renal injury we get blamed. Any bleeding we get blamed. Any non healing ortho case we get blamed. I let the surgeons write for it in PACU or request that I give it…🤷🏻♂️I treat patients pain with regional or opiates but use toradol sparingly. Good post!

As a PACU RN I love this drug. I didn’t know about the difference in 15mg vs 30 mg. Thank you!

So let me ask - when you have a patient who needs opiate sparing protocol - what medications do you use so they are limited to on the amount of opiates used but also are comfortable and safe?

And newer studies have even shown that 10mg IV is just as affective as 15mg! 🔥

So injecting 60 toradol has the same effect as 30 toradol?

I beg to differ for hyster and D&C, I feel like motrin works better post-op than toradol. I've seen both with and without and the with always have more pain and I can't give them any other type of NSAID

It’s just wild to me that the USA is obsessed with calling medications by a brand name. It just leads to higher chances of drug errors!!
