@debtwifediaries: I honestly feel like I’m reaching my limit.. I don’t understand why life keeps throwing one setback after another at us. Another unexpected expense while living with debt in South Korea.. #debtfreejourney #Budgeting #struggling #struggleisreal #debt
If she wants you out she needs to pay for the broken lease and you take back EVERYTHING you did for that property. She doesn’t get to profit off of your hard work

I'd remove everything you have done so they don't gain financially for all your hard work

Id stay until the end of your contract to help reduce stress in finding a place, or tell the landlord you are happy to leave this month if they cover all moving costs including possible temporary housing

Sounds like you did the place up nice and now that’s done she wants you out and she can rent out for more money. Never put lots of money et into a short rental it’s wasting money

So sorry you’re going through that. Shouldn’t you be compensated for the improvements you did though?

If she illegally wants you to move out soon, tell her to give back all money for monthly rent and deposit. She keeps none because she kicks out illegally. If you have until contract ends that is best for all while you look and have time to find new place

They saw the new renovations and they saw money in their eyes. It’s better to take down the renovations. You should see what the laws in Korea say about protecting tenants. Don’t always leave but fight too. I’m guessing the landlord and family saw this as an opportunity. It’s not fair for you guys especially as you have a contract anyways.

i forgot the word in korean- but you can ask for the money you spent in decorating to the landloard or the new renter. this concept surprised me but i can see why it could be reasonable in this case

Just to answer one question I know a lot of you will ask…
No, we weren’t “problem tenants.”
In the beginning, the owners were genuinely excited about everything. They were the ones who suggested bringing the horses here and were incredibly kind to us.
I think the reality is much simpler.
The people who live here are elderly, and they’ve spent many years enjoying a very quiet, peaceful lifestyle.
Meanwhile… my husband and I are constantly building something, coming up with new ideas, improving things, moving equipment around… we’re just very active people.
I don’t think anyone did anything wrong.
We’re simply very different.
So maybe this just wasn’t the right place for us after all.
Of course, it’s painful knowing we’ve already invested so much time, effort, and money into this place.
But at the same time, we’re still grateful for everything this home gave us.
It was an important chapter of our lives.
Now it’s time to find the place that’s truly meant for us. 🤍

this is why you dont do such a large construction project on a rental property… you aren’t the owner in the long term and there’s no reason to invest in someone else’s property. You might not get the money back… 🥲

wait until the legal lease and take your time. dont allow her to “gently” screw you over OR demand moving costs to move earlier.
