New fav scone recipe 😍🤩 Scones are one of my favorite items to make but I don’t make them enough! They are perfect for beginner bakers and have so many varieties available to suit your taste buds. Also learned today that you can prep these in advance, slice, and freeze before baking. I had never tried that before! Super easy and tasted amazing. Also learned that sour cream in your scones is superior to butter! Who knew?! Here is the recipe I came up with to incorporate the sour cream instead of the butter. 1 c sour cream 1 egg 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 tbsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1/3 c cane sugar 2 1/2 - 3 c flour (will depend on mix ins used as they can add moisture) 1 c mix ins (fresh fruit, nuts, extracts, spices, etc) Add sour cream, egg, and vanilla to your bowl. mix well. Then add in remaining ingredients and mix. If adding a flavor or mix in, do that with the flour. Start with the smallest amount of flour and add as needed. You want the dough to be soft and not dry but not super sticky. Once mixe well, shape into a round circle and slice into 8 even slices (like a pizza). Place on sheet tray to freeze or bake. If baking, preheat oven to 400 Brush with heavy cream and either sprinkle with sugar or omit if you prefer a glaze on the top. Bake for 20-22 minutes until golden brown! Remove, cool, ice and enjoy! Glaze 1 c powdered sugar 1 tbsp butter 1 tsp vanilla pinch salt milk to get desired consistency Whisk ingredients together and use #homemade #farmstand #baking #scones
