idk why you guys are surprised about the beaches disappearing. we breached the 1.5 C limit of warming of the earth, the pacific ocean is heating up, we are in a worldwide el niño for at least 6 months, get used to this shit happening bc the world is about destroy itself, and it is OUR fault.

It’s only temporary until they fix it, they will bring in more sand and build a sea wall at some point, but as of now very sad that’s it closed

Only the toll parking lot is closed to cars. Several other ways to get to the beach. From PCH to Westward Beach Rd to Birdview Ave. From PCH to Wildlife Rd (stay on it, don’t turn on to Zumirez). From PCH to Portshed Rd. From PCH to Heathercliff. Look for parking on side streets but make sure you pay attention to the signs. The big bad private parking company is always out looking to write tickets. You can then walk down to the natural preserve, aka park, and then there are two paths to take you down to the beach on the west or the beach on the east of the park. The parking at the park is usually full. See satellite images of the streets I listed above.

“Indefinitely” doesn’t mean forever 😭 Point Dume isn’t permanently closing! This actually happened in 2021 too because of severe erosion. The road and parking area were closed for about 3 months while repairs were made, then reopened. Right now there’s just no reopening date yet!
