@5eilm: من فضائل المصافحة { الشيخ عزيز فرحان } النَّبِـيُّ ﷺ يَقُـولُ إِنَّ الْمُـؤْمِنَ إِذَا لَقِـيَ الْمُـؤْمِنَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ وَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ فَصَافَحَهُ تَناثَـرَتْ خَطَايَاهُمَا كَمَا يَتَنَاثَـرُ وَرَقُ الشَّجَـرِ { صحيح الترغيب }

In my opinion, I don’t believe in the whole “you’re too sensitive” or “you’re too easily offended” rhetoric. I think it’s unfair and often keeps people stuck in cycles of shame. We all have different sensitivities, but that doesn’t make one person “more easily offended” than another. It simply makes us human. We all have different lived experiences, and those experiences shape how we interpret and respond to the world around us. Now, it’s also important to recognize that sometimes our reactions are bigger than the situation in front of us because of unresolved pain, trauma, chronic stress, or other experiences that have shaped us. That doesn’t make us “too sensitive” it simply means there’s healing to be done. Our emotions are always valid, but our behaviors aren’t always healthy or appropriate. If something triggers anger in you and you begin cussing everyone out or wanting to hit people, that’s something that needs to be addressed. However, if someone says or does something that hurts or upsets you, and you want to maintain the relationship, have the conversation. Communicate. Address it with honesty and respect rather than suppressing it or exploding later. I believe we’d hear a lot less of the “you’re too sensitive” rhetoric if more people committed to healing the experiences that shaped them, while also learning healthy conflict resolution and effective communication skills.
