It’s so hard being new, youngest in the room, not fully knowing the space while sitting in meetings with executives. I don’t know if I’m able to add value to those conversations but I don’t want to be too quiet and go unnoticed

To call these "presence problems" is just taking away humanity - how corporate... The reality is that over explaining or not saying anything when you want to are both trauma responses and coping mechanisms - they're human emotions and programming from the life the individual lived. Do these coping mechanisms hurt you more in higher leadership positions where ownership and confidence are rewarded while also not providing safety? Yes. But let's not pose this behavior as a "presence issue" with easy fixes and help people realize what's really going on and encourage them to do the work necessary to heal those wounds and create self-safety necessary for those environments? These people are not "lacking." Life is telling them that this is where they need to grow and their old patterns won't work.

I want to offer but I have someone on my team in all these same meetings who never shuts up and talks over. You can’t get a word in. I can’t tell if he looks as smart to everyone as he hopes or they realize he is just a chaos creator.

Nope. The problem is the leaders. If you are the expert and are sharing knowledge, those leaders should listen, not judge.

I can't seem to translate plain language and facts into the right corporate speak trigger words people want to hear. I come from the legal world, I'm trained to speak in facts. coloring them up and padding with corporate buzzwords is hard to learn. if I'm not interesting enough because I don't speak this fake made up language where people don't live in reality, what's the point really? gets frustrating.

I hate it when people (mostly men) say something that adds nothing and you can tell they just wanted to say something but it seems to work because these vapid commenters do tend to get promoted.
