As with most English/British food, it's frowned upon by xenophobes just because they know it's coming from there. If another country did the same foods, it would be recieved a lot more favourably.

if you're travelling around England you HAVE to go to the courtyard dairy in Settle. it's the best cheese monger in the country, proven so by the awards it's won! they sell the oggleshield and other cheeses that are all British
