I love the thunder gong marquee and the bbq shirt he wore was a throwback to one of the episodes in season 1(I think… when Michelle wanted the divorce but it’s been a minute so might not have been the exact scene) but so many things were amazing in just one episode….

Rebecca ruining everything with bbq sauce was peak. I have seen so many people ruin shit with bbq sauce lol. And her loving it tied in so well with Brits trying American food for the first time at the World Cup.

If you’re in Kansas City or close if you are u should go to the Negro museum and the jazz museum and then go about a block and grab some of the best barbecue in the world make sure a hell of an afternoon

The writing for the sequence in the house was so good/emotional. We see the dart board (“every Sunday at a sports bar with my father from age 10-16 when he passed away”), to the “Johnny Tremaine” book (“And on the way to school, he talks me through the entire book, because he stayed up the whole night so his little boy wouldn’t be anxious about a silly little test”), to seeing his dad’s plaque (this is the first time we learn Papa Lasso’s name was Jim), the last date being 1990 (when we know he passed in 1991), to the high-pitched ringing sound in Ted’s ears (signalling an anxiety/panic attack), which crescendoes into a loud bang as Ted drops the box down for his mom (evocative of the sound of a gunshot), and we’re reminded that THIS is the same house where it all happened, to Ted having a happy memory about his dad, which leads him to make the connection to Henry and his role as a father, which finally leads him to deciding to take the family back HOME to Richmond. 🥹🫶🏻😢❤️🩹

I think the only thing I hated was that Richmond won the cup without him. As a coach, Ted is proud and as a coach I get it. You celebrate those victories and they are yours. But as a Ted fan and watching him constantly battle, lose, and get back up. (Giving up coaching for his kid, panic attacks trust Nate and get betrayed, etc) I wanted to see him bring a championship with the women’s team and bring that first one there. Now it will be an expectation, he created championship culture and champions literally. People will have a Do it again attitude. I don’t like that.

I re watched season 1-3 this week before season 4 dropped and I really enjoyed season 4 ep1 very well made it was nice to see how ted was doing after the end of season 3 but what made me smile was how they added the photos in the office and the news clippings of what's happened since ted left Roy winning the fa cup with Richmond Jamie leaving for barcalona I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops and it's great it's showing women's football and the struggles that are still in that game trying to build a women's team like we saw in the episode Twickenham woman's team folded due to the men's team needing money

as a Kansas Citian my favorite part was featuring the music of a small local band, frogpond (only 2k followers on Instagram), that was part of the local music scene when Jason Sudeikis lived in Kansas City.
