McWilliams was convicted at Woolwich Crown Court of over 40 sexual offences, including rape, against 24 children aged between four months and 14 years old. He forged documents and references to obtain childcare roles before filming himself abusing victims between 2012 and 2017. Originally handed a life sentence with a nine-year minimum term, the Court of Appeal judged the sentence unduly lenient on 21 May 2021.
