As a former homeschool AND school child, I can safely say that both suck in different ways. School is basically hell, bullies, bad teachers, stress, you're basically being forced sit there for hours, you only really have fun if you have good teachers and really good friends. But going to school will feel normal, there's no judgement from others, and it's easier to take exams and stuff. Homeschooling's pros are that it's very flexible, I was able to travel and learn while traveling because my teachers were my parents and my tutor could just give homework if I was travelling and then teach when I'm back home. Homeschooling imo also teaches life skills that i never learnt in school. BUT being homeschooled makes you really feel like an outsider, i felt like I wasn't smart because everyone else was learning differently and i got a LOOOTT of hate for being homeschooled. And also it's harder to make friends, you gotta join stuff like sports or other classes

I've been homeschooled since the second grade and i think that if the parents think that this is the best choice for their children and know how to balance this and take care of the kid's social life, there's no problem really.🩷

as a kid who was homeschooled, this was the best part of growing up. there were no limits to what I could learn & I never grew tired of it, and transitioned into a regular school seamlessly because I was well educated and well socialized. it’s about the parents not the system.

my mum did this on top of regular school, I have a degree in astrophysics and work as an engineer, this type of education should be supplementary to the traditional curriculum you're taugh at school.

It’s so interesting when a parent homeschools and then posts something calling it “homeschooling”, meanwhile it’s just the kid playing outside, going to extracurriculars or the parent just literally talking to their kid about what the kid is interested in. None of these things are homeschooling. Traditionally schooled kids can do all of these things, every day for the 7 waking hours (give or take) that they’re not at school.
