It was absolutely criminal that the person in charge straight out lied about the performance of the YB35 to get the B-36 approved, then ordered ever single 35 destroyed. The YB-49 was even better, one test pilot stating it handled like a fighter.

When I was 12 years old I was having breakfast when everything started to shake and I hear the roaring sound of a plane! I rushed outside and saw a B36 fly right over my house! I will never forget that moment!

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton, Ohio has a Convair B-36J Peacemaker in its Cold War Gallery. There's also an XB-70 and a B-52 at the museum.
