Actually, I’ve heard that things like simple beauty items spike bc during World War II people would splurge on simpler smaller things when they can’t afford major investments like a car. Im getting this from something I heard about women wearing very loud red lipstick as a type of protest and comfort item due to how much Hitler disliked the color on women or something idk

if I wouldn't have cashed my investments out in 2008, I'd be a millionaire today. if you see tour investments losing money; don't panic and cash out. it's just a paper loss until you actually cash out.

in england during ww2, adult children would move in with parents. this is a huge move because we have very tiny houses. my Nan lived with her parents, three adult siblings and their partners. they were in a three bedroom house. the third room was a box room which could only hold a single bed. it was more than a push but saved everyone a lot of money. plus they were mostly out working and only came home to sleep.

I paid off my 2023 car with my severance that I received after job loss. Started a new job a week later. Debt free and I have 60k saved for a downpayment but I’m thinking of taking a small 401k loan and pay it off in 2-3 years. Homes are about 450k-500k here in Oregon.
