same thing as the Hilbert hotel no need to explain it it's literally the same video

Then do the same with natural numbers???

Am I dumb or couldn’t you just write the natural number as the Real Number? ( N: 1234; R: 0.12340000000…) then they are the same amount

easier proof: for every natural number N, there exists a real number 1/n. Every other fraction is left over😭

why can't you diagonalise the natural numbers?

I disagree for 1 reason: you can't "create" a new Real number with infinite digits after the decimal point.
-
Each real number is infinite, and there is an infinite number of them, so the process itself of "creating" a new real number would be endless, and you'll never have that extra number.

But isn't the example of the set of positive integers vs the set of integers in general a more easily understandable example? Both sets are infinite, but since the entire set also contains all the negative integers it must - by pure logic - still be twice the size as just the set of positive numbers 🤣

isnt this just wrong if there are infinite numbers then every possible solution should show up, and you can add 1 more to it but by length… or am I the one overthinking

surely that the same thing applies in natural numbers?

but there would still be the same ammout 0.1=1 0.543=543 all of those decimal numbers can be swapped like that to be natural numbers

there is the same amount of numbers from -infinity to 0 and 0 to 1 and it's easy to prove with lnx

thats straight up false, if it really has every real number between 0 and 1, it is gonna have whatever combination he got from that

no bcs they said that if its a nine then you roll back to eight which already defeats the purpose and if we were to add the on to the nine we would have to rewrite the number before like this 2639 -> 3750

Infinity is not a number, it’s a concept of never ending. There are no ‘different amounts of infinity’ not if you count for an infinite amount

But couldn't the New number he found between 0 and 1 just get the next natural number because there are Infinite natural numbers so it shluld be possible to just take the next one or am I wrong.

Except the test is flawed. You can easily match them by reversing the order. 1 = 0.1, 327 = 0.723. Every positive integer matches a real number between 1 and 0.

stop there, you can count 0.1 0.2 0.3~0.01 0.02 0.03~0.001 and so on, so it's still countable just the digit is reversed. real whole number could also do the diagonals sh*t method if the number is infinite f'ex 10×10^∞=100...with ∞ zeroes
