I think the argument that Salvador had friends, therefore he must’ve been happy, that was naturally evil to do what he did despite having a supportive group, is false. Based on what we have seen in clips, I do think SR had a good amount of friends. But having friends can mean just be socially surrounded with meaningless interactions. To doesn’t mean he felt understood or fulfilled. I think people forget friendships can be superficial and not very supportive. From the limited footages we have, I don’t think we confidently determine how genuine these relationships were to him. Sal Could’ve objectively had people around him and still felt alienated at the end of the day. That doesn’t excuse anything he did but just because “oh, but he had friends!” mean anything or explains what he felt internally. Oh Sal, why didn’t you leave behind a manifesto?!!!!!
