Stephanie :
But submission is not supposed to be one-sided. Submitting to a decision simply because your spouse made it, especially when you know that decision could lead to failure or destruction, is not biblical wisdom.
Look at Ananias and Sapphira their agreement with each other did not make their decision right; it ultimately led to both of them losing their lives. Abigail, on the other hand, recognized that her husband’s actions could bring destruction upon their household. She acted wisely, intervened, and changed the narrative and the Bible describes her as an intelligent and discerning woman.
Marriage was never designed around one person having unquestionable authority while the other blindly obeys. Scripture says, “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” Submission in marriage is therefore mutual, rooted in love, wisdom, humility, and consideration not blind obedience to every decision one spouse makes.
If your spouse is heading toward a decision that could destroy the family, speaking up, exercising wisdom, and preventing harm is not rebellion. Sometimes, true love and submission mean having the courage to say, “This is not right, and I cannot support it.”
