[1 of 2 - Free from Sin] 🤍🌈My sister in Christ, I want to share something with you about Galatians 5 that is very important to understand. Paul is not teaching that God’s righteousness or commandments have been done away with. Instead, he is revealing that through Christ we have been freed from the bondage and condemnation of sin and death, so that we can now perfect ourselves as we walk in the Spirit and live as faithful children who are obedient to our Heavenly Father.▫️Galatians 3:28 tells us that we are all one in Christ. And as children of God, we are instructed to live according to the righteousness of His light in Christ, establishing our faith through the Spirit (Romans 3:30-31). "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the children of God" (Romans 8:14). God creates us in Christ to naturally bring forth the good works of righteousness that He ordained for us to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). The word Walk is an Old Quaker word used in Scripture to speak of how we live. We are called to live in the light, just as Christ is in the light, so that we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).▫️The law under the Old Covenant did not have mercy on certain sins, which made it very grievous for those who committed acts of adultery or murder, or anything that required an eye-for-eye and tooth-for-tooth wherein their soul had to be paid as punishment for their sin. Christ came to free us from that condemnation, not to free us from living according to God’s righteousness. ▫️This is why Romans 8:2 says, "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." This does not mean that God’s law has been made void in Christ. On the contrary, it means that through the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, we are delivered from the death sentence that sin brings. The blood of Christ provides forgiveness and cleansing, allowing us to be restored to fellowship with God, so we can put our past transgressions behind us and go on to perfection (Hebrews 6:1). Christ made it clear, the words that he speaks to us are the Spirit of Eternal Life (John 6:63). [1 of 2]

[2 of 2 - Free from Sin] 🌟Christ taught the Old Testament laws when he walked this Earth. This is why he said, in Matthew 5:17-18, think not that he came to destroy the law, or what was written in the prophets. He did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfil. And until Heaven and Earth pass away, not one jot or tittle shall in any wise change in the law, until all be fulfilled. Acts 3:18 basically tells us that Christ fulfilled the Law of Sacrifice by shedding his blood on the cross, which is what the Law and Prophets all showed in their writings.▫️Afterwards, Christ continues to explain, "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so,... you shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 5:19). This testimony in Scripture squashes all man-made teachings that are contrary to the words of Christ, claiming the laws of God are not needed, and we no longer have to follow them. Because Christ literally tells us he does the will of his Heavenly Father in John 6:38, which is keeping the commandments to never sin and live forever.▫️If we call Christ our Lord, he makes it abundantly clear in Matthew 7:21, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." We still have to keep the commandments so that we do not willfully sin. Hebrews 10:26-29 says, "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?▫️The grace of Christ is not a license to continue in sin (Romans 6:1-4). His grace is the power and mercy by which we are forgiven, cleansed, and taught to walk in the way of righteousness faithfully. 🕊✨💨

I still struggle with performance based love. I always feel like I have to earn things in this live including love. He already died for me. And even if I was the only person on the planet, he would have still gotten on the cross for me. You can never earn a love like that.

🤔💭 It is important to understand that doing good works in the name of Christ alone is not how we determine whether we are being led by the Holy Spirit. Scripture teaches us that we must examine whether our thoughts, desires, and actions are truly aligned with the righteousness of God, and that righteousness is found in the Bible.▫️Before Christ, we were led by our own desires into the ways of the world. We would have thoughts and act upon those thoughts, but we were not the authors of truth, nor are we the source of God’s righteousness. We must be guided by God’s word and led by His Spirit to do the things commanded by His word, because His righteousness, not our own understanding, is the standard by which we know what pleases Him and that we are in Him.▫️Christ said, “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). The Holy Spirit does not lead us to skip over things in God’s truth, but to be obedient to them in holiness, and righteousness, with conformity to Christ. 🕊️💨✨
