I mean this with the utmost respect but the only content I ever seen you make anymore is about how to make content/money and become an influencer… which is growing your account and making you more money & more deals which is great for you but not realistic for people who don’t post about making money/becoming an influencer 😅

I think it's less about influencers about making money. It can feel disproportionate when someone filming shopping hauls, vlogs, or “day in my life” content earns more than teachers, nurses, social workers, or firefighters who do work society depends on every day. That’s a reasonable emotional reaction. I think it's more about questioning what our economy rewards. In other words, I don't think it's wrong they make money. But I can see why some may find it strange when teachers make pennies for example.

There's a difference between being upset someone is making money online (ridiculous) and being disappointed someone you support is working with a brand known for malicious and careless practices. It's truly a place of privilege to not have to consider the latter when accepting contracts.

hey! as a fellow influencer, I completely disagree with the turning down 3 months rent…we’re not paid for creativity (that might be a bonus to some brands!) we’re paid for our influence and audience engagement. so yeah, imo we have a responsibility to be extra thoughtful about what we’re promoting🤷♀️if the sole reason for posting is to make money, sure! but THAT’S the reason people get annoyed at influencers

I’m totally not against influencers making their money. I hope one day I’ll be able to do that or something like it. For me it’s looking at a lot of jobs where people make a ton of money after I’ve worked a night shift keeping babies alive in the NICU and knowing I have to pick up an extra shifts to survive. It’s not you. I celebrate your success. I just wish the career I put so much training and effort and time into was worth more compensation wise to people. That’s why our NICU loses trained nurses every year. It’s sad.
