Purgatory is found no where in scripture. Secondly. In terms of “needing time to heal from sin”. Once we die. We will exist outside of time with god.

Cool story. Not Biblical. Didn’t even listen past the 2 seconds it took to read your title.

I think we’ve become so obsessed with the gift of salvation that we don’t even realize what exactly the cross did. I would argue that a lot of Protestants have no idea what the cross did. Saying Jesus paid for our sins is just summarizing it, it’s not fully explaining what exactly that means.

Purgatory purifies the soul from venial sins. Nothing not fully pure can enter heaven. You’re 100% right

purgatory is real and we will all go through it whether you believe it or not. It is a time of purification to cleanse us of our signs.

What gives us confidence that God will keep every promise He makes? When God promised Abraham a son and declared that His covenant would continue through Isaac, Abraham had to trust God's word before seeing it fulfilled. Can we have that same 100% confidence that when God makes a promise, He will always be faithful to keep it?

Did the guy who died next to Christ on the cross go to purgatory or did Christ lie to him that he would be in paradise? Look into salvation, justification, and sanctification. Sanctification happens here while on earth if the saints die they sleep until Christ coming or is Gods word a lie and they are healing in purgatory?

The Bible never describes believers going to purgatory to be purified. It says Christ is the One who cleanses us. Hebrews 10:14 says, "By one sacrifice He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified." If Jesus sacrifice completely pays for sin, then there's no remaining punishment or purification needed after death. And yes, Revelation says nothing unclean enters heaven but that's exactly why believers are clothed in Christ's righteousness, not because they spend time in purgatory becoming clean. Our hope is in what Jesus finished on the cross, not in a process after death.

isn't your clergy allowed to take from the treasury of merit to reduce or eliminate that time? if they can, then why don't they?

when jesus said it is done what did he mean then? did he not defeat sin, death, or the grave? if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins! doesnt that mean sin if forgiven? if it does whats the purpose of purgatory? he paid the cost, he sacrificed to cleanse us of sin. so if were cleansed why would we need purgatory for cleansing or purifying?
