When we covered this in my criminal law class in law school the prof said if we enacted bad Samaritan laws the world would become a “phantasmagoria.” This was 30 years ago and I still remember it and also have never heard that word used in any other context since.

Canada has a good Samaritan law. This means if you try to help someone in medical distress you cannot be sued. Also, in Canada women's health care is protected including abortion.
