I‘m all about ditching the height obsession. I’m 5‘8“ and, like most tall teenage girls, used to think I "needed" a tall man so we’d have a visible height difference. It limits your options SO much and gives tall men way too much power. Like they know they’re in demand and don’t have to offer anything else and still have options. Besides… muscles > height IMO 🤭😏

I only seriously dated guys taller than me because at the time I was so insecure about my tall height and in order to feel feminine and small I needed someone taller. I think if I were dating now, I wouldn’t give a hoot how tall a man was I’d even date someone shorter than me

100% think you’re on to something here. There is nothing about height that is inherently attractive otherwise all male models and movie stars would all be 6’1+. But women are attracted to the feeling of femininity which is threatened if they’re taller, stronger, or weigh more than their partner. Likewise, even tall men go for short women if they’re insecure in their masculinity.

I’m 5’ and my husband is 6’ but I didn’t have a height preference because most men are taller than me lol. I think it’s weird when other short women insist on dating guys over 6’ and I think your theory sounds about right😂

I’m 5’8 AND plus size and I just want him to be 5’10… My whole family is 6’1+ men & I still don’t have a set high preference. I have 6’5” cousins & thats WAYY TOO MUCH!! AND THATS 9 inches taller than me, so a 5’1” girls 9 inches is 5’10..5’3” is 6ft… you don’t need that, that’s ridiculous… I have a big, muscular, sturdy body, and the most petite I’ve felt was from a 5’10 man. It’s fully on how they carry themselves, how they preserve you & then treat you.

I’m about 5’11” and genuinely had a theory for YEARS that shorter/mid height men are both funnier and more interesting. I mostly dated other guys that were very close to my height until my fiance who’s 6’3” lol. His height had nothing to do with why we were compatible tho

in fact I'll go further than you go here because you say that sure tall women also have a height preference but it's not as severe as the short women but I've actually found that a lot of tall women don't have a height preference at all and are very willing to date men that are shorter than them

As someone who is 4’11”, I find this to be an odd take 🤔. I really don’t care if a man is over 6’ or not, but I probably wouldn’t be attracted to a man who is only 1 or 2 inches taller than me either, and I don’t think that’s a crazy standard. “Girls who have built their desirability around being as small as possible”?! You do know that short women have about as much control over our height as you do, right? I was picked on throughout childhood for being short and would have given anything for a few extra inches.

I’m 5’9 and I always felt “bigger” than everyone so it was truly just an insecurity thing. My husband is two inches shorter than me and I truly don’t care whatsoever because now I’m secure with myself

I’m 5’9” and i prefer men around my height. Never understood the preference for unreasonably tall guys. Over 6’2” feels uncomfortable and inconvenient, i don’t want to crane my neck to make eye contact.

I thought about this for a while once and found I prefer tall guys bc subconsciously I like that they are able to essentially provide in a way that I cannot. We are still wired for survival and being short means I can’t always reach things and often need help (in the form of a step stool or a person for example). It’s more attractive to me that a potential mate has the qualities I lack. A short man who struggles with the same thing I do doesn’t make me secure in our survival. And if he has to grab a step stool as well then I may as well have done the damn job myself and that’s even more of a turn off.

I’m 167cm so pretty average height. I don’t mind men that’s shorter, taller or the same height. As long as they themselves don’t have a problem with it. Unfortunately those on the shorter side do very much have a problem
