ive never personally owned gerbils but i just want to say you should block anyone being negative! i think its completely fine considering its temporary and youre asking for advice (and not to mention youve already upgraded) this is far from abuse and youre doing the right thing by asking for help!!

bucastate the ones form temu, they’re really good and really big. gerbils need sand to clean themselves, please invest into buying this for them. they need a much bigger cage, so you can provide them with lots of bedding and textures, they’re big chewers so get them some twigs and treats to naw their teeth down.

hi! Long term gerbil owner here, the minimum cage size for 2 gerbils is 100 x 50 x 50 cm however bigger is always better if you can. I would advise no wooden cages as they will chew through them, glass tanks are my favorite or ive also seen people use the acrylic style (bucatstate etc) you can get large fish tanks on Facebook marketplace for very cheap if they dont hold water so they are perfect for gerbils if you build a lid!

sawdust is bad for their lungs and they can’t stand on the bars it hurts their feet and can cause injury and some advice- never buy anything coloured for them to chew

Set up is just as bad as what they are in stores they need loads of space to dig,run,play the depth of the bedding is decent but the size of the cage is outrageous in no mean harm but i do hope you get everything to give them a good life xx

Try looking on Facebook marketplace for good deep cages, even joining gerbil groups because some people will sell their cages on there

I have the bucastate 120cm one 3.0 for mine two you can always look on Facebook marketplace people sell them for between 100-150 or if u live in the uk it’s on sale for 163
