I have GHSV2. It gets to a point where idgaf. People be talking smack and I just hit em with the “oh yeah I have that.” Makes things real awkward for them and then I follow up with “if you have any questions or need some general education, I gotchu. Usually the attitude around the conversation changes cause they feel bad or weird for making remarks about it lol confidence is absolute key.

As a nurse, so many people have it. But they won’t admit it.

I was raped in 2020 and it's forever changed my life. Hearing people call me disgusting not even knowing they're talking about me directly hurts

i get sick when i have to explain this to a potential partner. 9 times out of 10 i get rejected lol. i don’t even have symptoms anymore and it no longer affects me and ive never given to anyone. the stigma SUCKS. stuck with this weight of disclosing because i was cheated on. live laugh love ig

This is the heaviest sh*tt I ever had to deal with. I genuinely feel like no one will ever love me and reject me. But it wasn’t my fault. He lied and cheated. Life goes on but I’ll never understand why I was the one being punished for something I didn’t do. I don’t love myself anymore. Learning to have self love with this detail about me sends me down a spiral I can’t get out of. But what’s done is done. I feel like I’ll be alone forever bc who would really want someone with this? I wouldn’t. Honestly.

I have HSV2. I didn’t get a chance to make an informed decision. It’s not my fault but I carry this now. You are not alone 🩷

the fact that so many people are given it without disclosure is what makes it so sad. (that’s assault btw)

I learned that the people who judge you for having it are the people you DONT want in your life. 80% of Americans have it and most lie about it! I got hsv1 from my mom, and hsv 2 from my second husband

lol the boy I was talking to didn’t know and the conversation of stds got brought up. And I had said well what if the girl got it from someone being untruthful, and now they take meds and take care of it? And he said I would never deal with someone “dirty”. Broke my heart.

Hi I don’t have it but I have done the internal destigmatizing because I know it’s common and normal and I would absolutely date someone who had it and was open and honest with me ❤️

I am an NP in urgent care and I’m here to tell you that almost everyone tests positive for HSV1 on bloodwork. When I see HSV2 I educate the hell out of my patients and will even have them come back for a separate educational visit so they understand what they have, and tell them to inform all partners. Whether they follow the advice is another story 🤷♀️

Me working my first overtime shift and someone who is becoming a nurse saying they would rather die then have it. All I could think about was you are becoming a nurse and I can only imagine how your bed side manor is going to be.

They are talking about the VIRUS. You are NOT the virus. We are NOT the virus. It's something we have. Not something we are. Our possessions, even those internal, are not who we are. We are not the clothes we wear. Who you are inside is all that counts. There is so much more to life than our sexuality. You have a heart and a conscience and a personality and a sense of humor and intelligence and love. Sexuality is such a small part of life and even of romance. And if true love and romance is what you really want, it won't be the only thing the person focuses on. The stigma is the worst part about the virus and that comes from uneducated people who may have or at some might come in contact with someone who has it and not even know. It's more likely that they have, in fact, and even condoms can't protect you sometimes. You didn't ask for this and it's not your fault so why should what they say bother you? Let them talk.
