I learned this in my holocaust and genocide studies class in high school in 2010 and I thought “okay that’s weird, but I guess that is good for them to go somewhere the Jews feel safe”. Then in 2016 I had a bio terrorism class in college and had to write a paper on Hamas. I did a huge deep dive. And as I’m doing it, I’m like how could America label them as terrorist when they’re just trying to protect their land? My ex military professor wasn’t so happy when I argued my own paper to also express that Hamas is a product of self-protection and though their actions do affect human life it is a reflection of the suffering that have endured.

Yup. Whenever my department tries to purge our storage I always keep at least one textbook for posterity. It’s a running joke now, but I guess I’m the only one who learned archives are an important part of teaching HISTORY

Behind the Bastards podcast is in the middle of a discussion about all of this. What made me most sad was to find out that prior to the creation of Israel, Arab Jews, Muslims, and Christian’s all lived together pretty happily.

I just finished a Regional Geography course, and the summary I got was essentially that Israel bullied itself into existence and has been instigating conflict the entire time, trying to claim more land. Palestinians have been systematically pushed out of their ancestral homeland and denied an official state, resulting in the creation of Hamas for their protection, primarily FROM Israel.

You know what would be really interesting and time consuming, but if a historian collected all the texts from every single country and cross referenced everything and came up with a combined world history that can be proven true through cross analysis. I wonder if thats a thing or could be a thing..
