the algorithm is entirely different. tiktok pushes out this content to anyone, meanwhile on twitter you have to search for it. also, tiktok tends to be full of younger people, while twitter tend to be 18+

from what ive seen edtt is mostly people encouraging others to starve and romanticizing eds, on twt some people are like that too but the majority of edtwt users just want a safe space to talk about their struggles without being judged and find people they can relate to. on tiktok their content also reaches all kinds of audiences including younger children that could easily be influenced by their posts, meanwhile on twt you have to search it up to get ed related stuff on your tl

As someone who was on edtwt, it’s generally because TikTok glamorizes eating disorders, put down people who have disorders OTHER than anorexia or bulimia, actively encourages eating disorders, etc. on twitter most people would cancel you so quick 😭 So basically Twitter is pro-recovery and Tiktok isn’t

as a whole edtwt is more self aware and conscious about the content they put out, and how it can be consumed, than edtt is. on twt my timeline is full of discussions of the health issues that come with being disordered, vents about emotions and how they get amplified by their disorder, and thnsp. my fyp on tt is full of romanticization, thnsp, and toxic motivation. i’m not saying that what exists on tiktok is limited to tiktok and what exists on twitter is limited to twitter. both sides of content can exist on either side, but the amount of it and its reach is different

Think of the two spaces like dog breeds. Yes they are both dogs. But edtt, especially shtt will literally have TUTORIALS on how to harm yourself. While Edrtwt doesn't, actively pushes recovery and doesn't ever put a tutorial on how to purge or cut. Also edtt encourages little kids to harm themselves when Edrtwt pushes people under 18+ away from those spaces. Like again both spaces are bad and it's just a snake eating its tail.

With Edtt it’s the complete polar opposite nd I think Edtt also uses tumblr or wtv and ppl on twitter don’t like that bcz back in the early ages of tumblr it was completely pro Ana nd a bunch of teens n younger girls developed one bcs of it but don’t quote me
