the rope does not pull the climbers up the wall in Olympic speed climbing. The rope is attached to a safety device called an auto-belay, which only pulls in the slack as they climb and safely lowers them down after they hit the top or fall. All of the upward movement comes from the climber's own physical power and muscle.
