I agree with keeping the fork and knife in each hand at all times but putting the food on the backside of the fork makes no sense, that completely defeats the purpose and design of the fork.

Sorry, I’m really confused. The four goes on the left. I was raised to pick the fork up in my left hand the knife in the right to cut it and then place the knife from the plate. You’re referring to the fork being in the dominant hand??

Thank you Carla. I was taught to use the fork with the left hand and use the knife in the right (dominant) hand to cut the food. Then lay the knife down switched the fork to the right hand to pick up the food.

What is the point here! People in different parts of the world differs in a variety of ways. As long as their way of eating such ss munching and chewing do not disturb a person dining nearby let them enjoy their food in their own way.Right!?!

Sorry I am right handed and use my right hand to eat with my fork, and I do use my right hand to use the knife. I have tried the European way and an upside down fork doesn’t work for me plus I just don’t use my left hand at all to eat with or cut with.

You put the knife on the plate with the blade towards the rim edge. It should be towards the middle of the plate!
