@konah619: More than 6,000 people in Sweden have chosen to have microchips implanted in their hands. Sweden has become a global leader in one of the world’s most unusual technology trends, with thousands voluntarily receiving tiny implants beneath the skin of their hands. Roughly the size of a grain of rice, the chips can replace everyday items such as office key cards, building access passes, and other contactless credentials. The implants use passive RFID and NFC technology, meaning they contain no battery, have no GPS, and cannot actively track a person’s location. They only function when held a few centimeters from a compatible scanner.
