I don’t know why people find it so hard to understand that queer relationships are same to straight relationships. Not everything have to be through sexual to show you like the person. Intimacy still happens between queer relationships, sex is just one of the ways you can show affection

and that is why I hate it when people call Leviticus "haunted rivalry" because even though I love Heated Rivalry will all my heart, the show was sexual but it was done purposely as a way to tell us how Shane and Ilya's relationship developed, meanwhile Naim and Ryan most of the movie were trying to navigate how quite literally life-or-death level dangerous their relationship be, and yet ppl focus on the SINGLE time they were intimate in that bus scene.

Yes very true! I like the handmaiden but some scenes screams het man director. The sensual elements in Leviticus actually have an impact on the story, the entity using the guys actions against them (ex: since he liked the lick on the ear; the entity bites the ear off)

thats why I love Emily dickenson so much even in a sex scene they made it more abt the emotional part of it than 'omg this feels so good'

This isn’t to say that your broader message is incorrect but I wanted to point out that hands, in sapphic literature, ARE emblematic of sexual desire (on account of… well, the nature of wlw intercourse). Kiyoko’s focus on Sonya’s hands in the doesn’t show that Coley’s attraction is “all-encompassing”—it shows that her attraction is decidedly SAPPHIC; I think that’s an important note as your wording in the video seems to suggest that the hands are an arbitrary body part to focus on when this choice itself is laden with meaning.

The handmaiden vs the fingersmith demonstrates this perfectly. The same source material but one has a queer director

What I’m about to say might be controversial, but if the only way for us to have representation is for it to be done by a cisgender, heterosexual person who won’t even bother to seek out testimonies from queer people and will create a movie based on THEIR own vision of queer people, I’d rather they didn’t do anything at all. For many of us, being queer has completely shaped the way we see ourselves, the way we live, and the way we relate to others, something that doesn’t happen to cisgender heterosexual people, who, for the most part, don’t even bother to represent it because they don’t understand it

When a straight person writes them they write it for men to like, and when a queer person does it its written from experience

It’s not a movie but the book “they both die at the end” is also a very great example of this.

Likey my only gripe with girls like girls was that Sonya was always drunk to some degree every time she was loving on Coley. It was very strange that she wasn’t ever of sound mind until I think after the end credits? Idk it was a little off putting to me

Handmaiden is definitely a very male gaze-y movie but the face the one chicky makes when her brain short circuits between the other girly’s legs is authentically sapphic lmao

There’s a specific scene in GLG that will always live in my mind Renfrey and it’s the one where Sonia is reaching for the remote and she does this thing where instead of standing up, she kind of stretches her torso so that she’s in kind of like a cat pose to show off her body (like consciously or subconsciously) she was signaling that it was okay for coley to look at her…the scene in the pool gives me goosebumps! Where it’s just their eyes and nose and them looking at each other with silence around them and they almost kiss but they don’t…it’s obviously to build up the tension…

Most sapphic films I've been told to watch just seem very stiff and performed.
