When the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II was revealed in 1990, BMW’s development chief Wolfgang Reitzle famously joked about its aggressive, massive rear wing.He remarked that "the laws of aerodynamics must be different between Munich and Stuttgart; because if that rear wing works, we'll have to redesign our wind tunnel."BMW followed through: True to his word, BMW engineers tested the concepts and BMW ultimately had to redesign and re-evaluate their own wind tunnel capabilities to catch up. The Evo II went on to dominate, winning the 1992 DTM championship.
