They were identical twins which means the dna for the Avatar is the same as his dna even though it was made with his brothers dna. Also his children are still his children because they have the same dna.

segun se , incluso los gemelos pueden tener diferencias ficicas , mayormente notadas por mienmbros de la famlia, por eso jake dice que se parece a tommy cuando lo ve , osea que en un punto jake ya no sabe como era su cara antes , talves ya no se reconosca en fotografias (me refiero mas que nada a la estructura facial)
