it does more than just that from what I understand. it also rolls back the ability of states to put in regulations for pesticide and fertilizer use. The Iowa Republicans who started the bill are bought and paid for by the companies producing stuff like atrazine, the second most widely used pesticide after glyphosohate and also linked to cancer. Iowa has the second highest cancer rate in the country and it is rising because the water is toxic. the pesticides and fertilizers run off into the water more than ever now that farmers don't get benefits for leaving riparian buffers and natural grassland to filter the runoff before it reaches streams and rivers and groundwater anymore. The Republicans chose not to renew the program despite it being successful. The biggest nitrogen removal system in the US is in Iowa and unable to remove enough nitrogen from the drinking water to bring it to ppm levels deemed safe.

literally as someone in the vet field, if this passes it will skyrocket our already high suicide rates. where i live, animals already have very few protections and it isn’t the lawmakers getting blamed for this like they should. the shelter workers and the veterinary staff are the ones getting blamed. the people who care the MOST are getting blamed for the actions of those who don’t care at all.

I see the downgrade of meat received by venders the meat is tough and it smells bad. I never smell bad meat from store bought.

Who would ever want to prevent legislation that speaks to preventing animal cruelty? This really shows the EVIL in our country’s legislators & the desire for the all mighty buck over everything. Any decent farmer respects the animals he raises and does what he (or she) can to keep them healthy & protected. Listen, I don’t eat meat - I do consume eggs and butter & Struve to purchase them from reputable sources….even if it’s more expensive, because it’s the right thing to do
