I feel like they're also saying that because theyre comparing a life with one arm to their regular, healthy, abled life that they currently have. that is not the same as someone who actually has to make that decision when theyre already sick or injured and losing the limb means just a different life or like u said one that actually means more opportunities and abilities compared to the current conditions theyre in. its just super short sighted all around tbh

In high school years ago, my best friend got bone cancer and chose not to have her leg amputated. Sadly, that choice cost her her life within the year. You absolutely did the right thing.

As someone who also lost my right arm (due to a drunk driver going the wrong way) I agree. I also get that comment all the time. It was either lose my arm or lose my life.

That hypothetical is for them, not you. So why are you getting offended for their life choices? Good for you that you're healthy both physically and mentally but shaming them for their life choices with who knows their life that they lived is to the point that you're even saying it's ableism is just a bit of a stretch. Let them have their own opinions and choices, it's not hurting you.

I always thought I'd rather die than get cancer treatment, after seeing my grandma trough that.. now I have cancer and I'll do anything to live (hopefully the operation was enough and nothing else is needed but I'll know soon)
