i graduated a year early, i’m taking a gap year instead of rushing into college a year early. i’d much rather spend a year working , saving up and getting my own apartment before i go to college. i don’t want to do dorms, but i want a place near my future campus

A little reminder: GO TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE. I understand “wanting to get away and experience college life” but it’s not worth it if you don’t have the funds CURRENTLY to do it. Go to community college.

and you're not a failure if you try college and drop out because it's not for you. i did my freshman year of college and became dangerously depressed even though i had friends, a job, a girlfriend, and things to do. and i did very well in high school. after dropping out, i felt a lot better. and a few years later, i'm doing perfectly fine 🫶

Guys since we’re talking about college can someone help me. I can’t decide if I want to take a gap year and now I’m also questioning what I planned on studying in college. I’m in my senior year of high school rn. I wanted to be a teacher so I was gonna get my bachelors of science in English education and I was thinking I could take a gap year to work with City year which is a government organization where you sort of volunteer in a school as an assistant teacher and you live in an apartment nearby with some roomates and you get biweekly “stipend” (pay) and then at the end you get a huge bonus of around $7,000 which I would then use to help pay for college. BUT my only problem is I’m not fully confident that I’m passionate about being a teacher. I mean I know I want to be a teacher but I don’t think it’s my favorite option but I also don’t really know my other option. Idk I’m struggling and I need guidance.

Especially if you’re unsure or just know ur not gonna take classes seriously. Give yourself some time to think! That way u don’t in end up in a lot of pointless debt & ruin ur chances when u actually are ready.

The best option is always to make your own business idc what anyone says. You make your own hours & work. Other choices are college or working right after hs but you have to have an actual plan otherwise it’s not getting you anywhere either

I can't lie, it kind of is in this economy. if you don't want to struggle for the rest of your life, you need a degree with work experience to get any job that's pays worth a butt. At least for the state I live in, fast food, retail, and receptionist jobs pay minimum wage 7.25.
