It being an “underwhelming” reveal is the point in my opinion. Sarah was in pain and knew she was about to die, and she used the last of her strength to reach out to Jean. And the only thing she could project was the vision of that vent. Something completely mundane. Sarah didn’t die some grand death or get to have some poignant last words. She died tragically and quietly. The way that most people do. The very thing that made her special was used to kill her, and her last moments were “ordinary.” That’s why it’s so devastating. All that emphasis on V-Max for it to be nothing mirrors that Sarah’s death was “nothing.”

to me the reveal of vmax is exactly like the line in Loki "some people use them as paperweights" Loki gave his life for an infinity stone and somebody is using it as a paperweight Vmax is the last thing her sister saw before she was killed. in the last moment all she wanted to do was connect with her sister one last time it is significant in its insignificance. something so small to one person is everything to somebody else

Yeah, realize the reveal was devastating. The last thing her sister saw was a vent and was so out of her head she thought it meant something. The last thing her sister saw of this world wasn’t her sister, family, or the sun; it was a vent. If that isn’t devastating, idk what is.

that was probably the most devastating thing in the movie. when you realize how many times Sarah looked up at that word and probably read it over and over in her most painful moments. that was the last thing she saw. not even the room. just the words on the corner of an ac in a prison cell.

I feel like her saying “V-Max” wasn’t intentional, it was a straight up death rattle. She was probably delirious from torture and desperate to say anything to her sister, but her brain was too fried to form any words that weren’t right in front of her.

It was a gut wrenching reveal. We expected V Max to mean something, Jean expected it to mean something. WANTED it to. But it didn't, and sometimes that's the hardest part of loss. No grand reason or outcome. Just a loss followed by nothing.

Of all the plot twists or grand reveals I've seen in movies, V-Max is chilling on its own. The same way as how the infinity stones were revealed to be used as paperweights. These reveals are mundane and ordinary yet it directly is tied to a character's saddest deaths.
