I'll be honest - summer schools are a poor reflection of what oxford is like. Visit for an open day and have a chat with a student. More likely than not, you're absolutely fine to be at Oxford.

I had no idea about the summer programs from my college or anything, but after my offer my dad and I travelled down for an open day, i walked round the city and saw everyone in suits and pretended to be sick the next day 😭 just graduated last week and it was the greatest 3 years of my life

I went to Oxford uniq and in less than a week I find out whether I've achieved the grades to meet my offer for English at Oxford. even though I almost didn't apply, spent my summer school sh ing and crying, and sobbed after my interviews thinking I failed. I'm begging you to apply to oxbridge just in case, because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. if you don't want to go ( or you get rejected ) you can decline, u have 4 other choices to rely on. give yourself an option for the future in case you change your mind. I never ever thought I was cut out for Oxford but most students feel the same

Depending on which summer school you’re at, most of the summer are not linked to the university in any way, so are not a reflection- apply!

I did the uniq summer school and now have an offer for oxford, I left feeling like I wasn't good enough but obviously I am because I got in. There's a lot of time for change until you put your application in and even more until you get there, if you want this you should go for it, I had so much fun during applications so you won't lose out on anything by applying :)

At least you didn’t waste your time. I got into Oxford when I was 18 but deferred about four times due to severe illness. I then decided to apply to Cambridge- spent a year there and realised it wasn’t for me and now I’m transferring to Edinburgh 😭 realising this on a summer school would have saved me a lot of money and heartache lol

Went to a summer school at Oxford, thought I loved it, ended up at UCL and I’m so glad I didn’t go to Oxford - you’re going to be okay no matter where you go <3

you did the right thing. I tried twice to go to Cambridge and now that I'm here I feel I shoulfve just accepted fate when I failed the first time. what made you decide from this summer school that Oxford was not for you?

If it helps, I’m 32 and, aged 17, I *dramatically* failed an Oxford interview, which I felt was the end of the world at the time. Honestly think it was the best thing that ever happened to me in a way. Who knows what my life would have looked like if I hadn’t but I’ve lived abroad for years and done things I could never even have dreamed of back then. You don’t have to have it all figured out now.
