kind of a long comment, but beastars is one of my favorite series/manga of all time, and seeing it dissected with such thoughfulness through your pov has made me fall in love with it even more. i've been following for a while and i really admire your analyses and the way you pick up on details like this, it feels incredibly refreshing, especially in this AI era where every thinkpiece feels recicled and souless. i just wanted to show my appreciation! <3

I like how it marks how haru sees Legoshi differently from the jump seeing his tail as a possible inconvenience rather than an extension of a possibly dangerous carnivore. legoshi feels so taken aback because he's never been allowed the chance to be just an inconvenience only a threat

it also serves to point out that haru tucking his tail is a deliberate show of her showing him control, the issue is not that he is a carnivore, but rather that he cannot control his subconscious instincts to wag his tail, it shows that he is not entirely his subconscious desire to destroy and to eat meat as a carnivore

i love how later when Legoshi meets Pina he hates him with a passion, as if Pina isnt acting the way Louis did in season 1, maybe its due to the way Legoshi's self esteem grew by that time or bc of how much he misses Louis at the time so he doesnt like the replacement, but its still really funny to me

The Netflix ending did suck but the manga wasn’t only better. Wished they did kept the manga ending but with Netflix’s and its deals they couldn’t fit it in. To anyone who doesn’t know the manga ending the ending was when Legoshi was in the fight with the gangs of the black market. Louis was making a speech while said fight was happening and since Louis and Legoshi had a phantom sense Louis couldn’t handle it and couldn’t kept in the secret of the market fight. Louis caved in and said and expose the city of keeping the black market out of sight. They soon broadcasted the fight to everyone in the city. As people in the speech where shocked seeing what was happening in the black market melons dad say what was happening. After melons dad saw his son he yelled out and said “That guy is my son” people were shocked. I forgot who talked to melons dad but he said that he left his mother and that he wasn’t eaten. But this defeated the purpose of melon. His whole personality and life was only like that because he was scared of what his mother did. This really put a bad taste in manga readers. After Legoshi wins the fight people(herbivores) rushed to where the black market was. They tore it down and bring the black market down over night. Then after that Legoshi and haru lived happily ever after. This was a horrible ending because it seemed very rushed. Paru(the creator) also admitted as she was reaching the end so just wanted it to be over. Ik I didn’t explained this well but there’s many yt vids that criticize the ending
