@nbcphiladelphia: After 15 people were arrested at Pride celebrations in Center City earlier this year, there was an immediate call for answers as some attendees complained about excessive force as officers worked to control crowds during the end of the events. On Wednesday, Aug. 5, Philadelphia City Councilmember Rue Landau (Dem., At-Large) -- joined by the rest of council's Committee on Legislative Oversight -- held a hearing on the incident. Landau's office said the hearing was intended to "examine police conduct and planning during the June 7, 2026, Pride celebrations in the Gayborhood that took place after crowds gathered following the Pride programming on the Parkway." #philly #Pride #police #nbc10philly

This sounds very similar to New Years Day and the Mummers Parade. The police and the community have made the 2nd Street after-Parade much safer by creating boundaries, and policing the public. Let them do their jobs, comply and you won’t have ANY problems.

What went wrong? Trashed moved thru the streets. The thems/theys that now run pride have no experience and no planning. Im gay and live in the hood. Walking to pick up dinner that night I was accosted twice. Once verbally. Once physically. I’m fine with an even bigger police presence. Or maybe I’ll just go out of town next year.
