I coach wrestling and my high school kids help coach my youth. I had to walk out of practice once because one of my HS kids bought one of my youth wrestlers new wrestling shoes because his family couldn't afford it. It was his money, he asked the grandmother what size he was, and did it all on his own. I asked him why he did it, he said "a wrestler isn't a wrestler with out shoes" and then started our warmup. Still gives me chills.

Last year when my son started kindergarten, he instantly gravitated to this kid who was in a very broken home and had to be held back and repeat kindergarten multiple times. Lots of other kids picked on him because he wasn’t taken care of at home and often looked unkempt or smelled but our son saw him sitting alone and instantly went to sit with him. They became good friends. One day we went to go get some new shoes because this boy grows like a weed. He saw these one shoes and instantly said “ I want those”. We asked why and he said because my friend at school has those shoes and I want to match him. He wore those shoes all the time. Fast forward to kindergarten awards. The boys parents didn’t come to awards but anytime he got award you can see my son clapping harder than anybody in the room for him and cheering for him
