As an emt, can confirm picking up a patient with an active brain bleed (later confirmed as a tumor) from the dr because his arm was numb. By the time I got there (was at the same office) he was having a seizure. So yeah. First signs don’t always jump out and hearing that could actually change a person’s decision

As a nurse in a cardiologists office. I have had MULTIPLE patients call us and ask to be seen bc they thought they were having a heart attack, a stroke, a pulmonary embolism after surgery like EXCUSE ME 😅 HANG UP AND CALL AN AMBULANCE

I work in insurance. Apparently, A LOT of parents tell their young kids (16-21 yrs) that if they are in an accident call your insurance as soon as possible. I'm here to tell you that they take that extremely literal. One of many calls I had, a young driver called me and sounded in a panic, I instinctively asked are you in a safe location and this baby, bless her heart, said I'm in my car and my car landed in a tree. Luckily, her mother was also a client of mine. I had to tell this young lady to call 911 while I call her mother.

I couldn't move my legs. I seriously COULD NOT MOVE MY LEGS. I wondered if I was bad enough to call 911. 😂😂😂 I called my neighbor. Turns out her husband was a doctor and he came and saved me. 😂😂😂 btw- for some reason, I thought he was some sort of traveling salesman. 😂 I was 20.

My husband took a shower and ironed his pants before waking me up while he was actively having a heart attack. And then insisted I drive him to urgent care rather than the hospital. Never underestimate people's ability to underestimate their emergencies.

They leave a voicemail on a Sunday with ALL the emergency symptoms OR they call you with stroke symptoms and ask for a sick visit.

haha. I feel like most of these are obvious. But when I was pregnant I was getting really dizzy. I didn't think it was emergency worthy. I called my OB. They didn't think it was emergency either and said go get checked out in urgent care becuase they didn't have time to see me. Urgent care thought it was urgent enough that they took me to triage immediately. I still thought I was OK until the Dr came in about 2 min later and said I either needed a ride to the ER or they were calling the ambulance. I didn't realize that in addition to dizziness my BP and heart rate were both sky high. I thought I would have felt my heart racing as fast as it was
