What I don't understand is when something is open sourced but you end up downloading the binary and installing it, how can you verify that you downloaded the open source version and not some modified one or maybe they swap in a malicious code temporarily and switch it back.

People who complain about GrapheneOS app compatibility or missing functionality, must sort out their addiction to phones and social media in first hand. It’s not a OS issue - it’s issue with their own mindset.
