#childe #tartaglia #ajax | art weyowang | ok analysis below.. tt ruined my quality childe is such a deep character with sm layers to him and genuinely means sm to me. seeing ppl reduce him down to shallow traits (which arent even true) is disappointing bc theres so much more to him than some ‘flirty playboy’ persona (which he isnt even!!) . he has to juggle his identity/duties as a harbinger, his own self perception + trauma from the abyss, and preserving the innocence of his younger siblings .. all while carrying himself with a youthful front and being misunderstood by others. the fact he would rather risk or sacrifice his own reputation(and health!! like when he used foul legacy js to make sure teucer can safely observe ruin guards and can fulfill his brothers requests) if it means protecting his younger siblings innocence truly shows his selfless priorities and how, even if it means diminishing himself, hes willing to do anything for his family and loved ones. he carries sm burdens & grievances & yet carries himself as somewhat carefree when in reality hes anything but. “childhood dreams are shattered all too easily. Even if you just leave them be they fall to pieces allby themselves. if you make someone a promise/give someone a dream you defend it til the end” Or smth along those lines anyway this quote of his is so meaningful and telling of his character. his story quest imo is one of the most well executed in terms of truly showing a characters values and principles rather than straying from the point/becoming convoluted by focusing on an npc. because he himself lost his childhood innocence at such an early age, he jnows just how valuable it is and hence wnats to ensure and provide for his siblings what he couldnt have, selflessly prioritizing them. it especially resonates with me, and may resonate with many of you as well if youve been through being made big promises only to be let down just as immensely, and had to witness lots of inconsistencies + mature at an early age - it shows that he truly is willing and devoted to keeping his word. in this edit i tried to capture the vibe of his guilt as an older brother. While my jntro quote of an unfulfilled promise is made up, its my prediction for snezhnaya that, because of how much theyve emphasized his ability to keep promises, theyre likely setting it up or foreshadowing him being unable to keep his promise snd it somehow being revealed in a very crushing way out of his control, so perhaps he might fall from grace in the eyes of teucer. even if that doesnt happen, thats what i had in mknd for this edit! ‘I was your starry eyed lover(which i changed to brother’ links to how he was upheld as a hero and viewed as a reliable okder brother with his familys interest at heart, and how teucer always looked up to him. in fact, hes obviously leaned into this role as he addresses himself to tonia as ‘her loyal knight’, again taking it upon himself to be a strong and kind older brother figure who they can admire.
